IN THE CARE OF

Myers Funeral Home

Palma R. (Hunter) Walter, 96 of Huntington passed away at 8:05 pm on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Markle Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was a 1940 graduate of Clear Creek High School. Palma was a member of College Park United Brethren Church and was a homemaker who loved taking good care of her husband and family of five children. From the time the first child was born until the last one left home, she spent 35 years decorating her home, cooking, baking, raising large gardens, canning, freezing and sewing clothes for her children and herself. After the children were gone from the home her energy went into reading, crocheting, doll making, counted cross stitch and quilting. She also used acrylic paints for many craft projects and scenic paintings. When her husband took up bird carving she expertly painted them to look lifelike. In her later years, as her eyes and hands became weak, she spent countless hours doing puzzles and using colored pencils to make floral drawings come to life. Her hands were always busy! She will be dearly missed by her large family. Palma was born on September 14, 1922 in Whitley County, the daughter of Floyd and Nona (Eberhard) Hunter. She was united in marriage to Delbert Walter on May 30, 1941 in Goblesville. He preceded her in death on December 12, 2007. Survivors include three daughters: Anita (Jeffrey) Stewart of Fullerton, CA; Diane Six of Jenison, MI; Marla (Jim) Wolf of Huntington; two sons: Lynn (Yvette) Walter of Huntington; Brian (Ronda) Walter of Mt. Juliet, TN: a sister-in-law: Iris Hunter of Huntington; 13 grandchildren: Denise James, Melissa Wesco, Brent Walter, Nathan Wiehe, Sarah Lowell, Natalie Thorne, Monica Schultz, Kate Simmons, Neil Walter, James Wolf, Merideth Holder, Ellen Nunley, Mark Walter and 27 great grandchildren. She was preceded by a brother: Dean Hunter and a son-in-law: Pat Six. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 4:00pm with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Gary Dilley officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the Beech Grove Cemetery in Huntington County. Memorial donations can be made out to College Park United Brethren Church in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
