Joe D. Shelley, 76, of Connersville, passed away early Thursday morning, December 13, 2018, at Reid Health in Richmond.
A native of Connersville, Joe was born January 25, 1942, to Frank and Rachael Franks Shelley and attended Harrisburg High School. On January 16, 1970, Joe was married to the former Nancy Manley. He was employed at Design and Manufacturing for thirty-one years until they closed. For over twenty years, he worked Hassler Textiles as a route driver. In his leisure time, he was an avid sports fan.
In addition to his wife of over 48 years, Joe is survived by his children: Randy Shelley and Mike Shelley; Paula Miller and her husband, Roger of Brookville; his step-son: Kenny Hunt and his wife, Cindy of Miamisburg, Ohio; his grandchildren: Whitney Shelley, Blake Miller and Brandt Miller, both of Brookville; step-grandchildren: Jennifer Langdon and her husband, Billy of Lebanon, Ohio; Michelle Seibert and her husband, Nick of Miamisburg, Ohio; his great-grandchildren: Mitchell, Alex, Ella, Hank and Jack Langdon, Gabbrielle Seibert and Maddy Seibert; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by three brothers: Bill, Paul and Marvin Shelley; and his sister: Roberta DeMoss; and his twin sister: Joyce Ervin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Rev. Robert E. Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
