Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel
TRENTHAM, Harold Lee Jr. (Hal), 69, of Midlothian, Virginia, died on January 3, 2019 after a long battle with dementia. He is survived by his son Austin Matthew Trentham (his wife Stephanie Kaminsky Trentham and their son Ellis), his daughter Colleen Valentine Trentham, and their mother Penny Ausherman Trentham, his wife of thirty-six years.
Hal was born and raised in Houston, Texas with his sister Marsha Trentham Hunter and brother Gary Lee Trentham. An accomplished athlete, he accepted a scholarship from the University of Virginia to play football. He said that during a recruiting trip he stepped onto the Lawn as a light snow began to fall and his decision was made. After playing four years at U.Va., he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies. He then immersed himself in the music scene he loved so much at the popular Back Alley Disc record shop in The Fan District. He welcomed two children while living in Richmond before eventually settling in Midlothian.
A memorial Celebration of Life will be held at Woody Funeral Home (1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian VA, 23113) on Saturday, January 12th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances in Hal’s name be made to the Boston University Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy.
