Obituary of Mary Ann Seufert
Mary Ann was born to Joe and Veronica Thie on April 30, 1937. She grew up in St. Therese of the Little Flower parish on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis where she was also a kickball coach. She attended high school at St. Agnes Academy and continued her education at the St. Vincent’s School of Nursing. Nursing was her calling and her passion. She worked as the supervisor to the first Intensive Care Unit in Indianapolis designed and started by Community Hospital East in 1961. Even as her family grew, she continued her career working 2 days a month. She loved to get together with her nursing buddies throughout the years. She also enjoyed horseback riding, snow skiing and most of all spending quality time with her family. She met her husband of 54 years, "the man of her dreams", Cliff, dancing at White River Yacht Club in the early 60s. He can still tell you her phone number from that day; just ask him. He will also tell you that she was having such fun that she had a hard time remembering which one he was of her many dance partners. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church where she was active in the parish Eucharistic Adoration and Marriage Preparation ministries. She also served on the board of the Fatima Retreat House. She was a devout Catholic who constantly put the needs of others before herself. The joys of her life were her faith and her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Veronica (Volk) Thie, brother Julius (Eileen) Thie, daughters Rosemary (Charles) Essary and baby Mary. She is survived by her husband, Clifford Seufert, brother Joseph (Fran) Thie, sisters Theresa MacHolland, Cecilia (Richard) Turner and Martha Thie, children Joe (Kristine), John, Dan, Jim (Mindy), Theresa (Michael) Sispera, David (Lynn), Steve (Sara), Kathleen (Drew) Grimes and Mike. She has 19 beloved grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary on Tuesday, January 8 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM and a prayer service will be held there at 10:00 AM the following morning. The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 9 at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow the service. Any donations in her honor may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Retreat House, 5353 East 56th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46226.
