Lillian Esther Gainey
September 1, 1932 – January 8, 2019

Lillian Esther Gainey went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2019. She was born to Alvin and Edna Anderegg, on September 1, 1932 near San Antonio, Texas. Lillian stayed home with her children through the early years, then went to work in federal civil services. She retired from federal employment in September of 1992. She was a member of Oak Park Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Oscar H Gainey, and her eldest son, Thomas Gainey.
She is survived by three boys and one daughter; Michael Gainey, Deborah Yochum, Jeff Gainey, and Kevin Gainey; along with 10 beloved grandchildren and 12 special great grandchildren. Lillian had many friends that spanned the decades and the miles, all of whom will miss this much-loved women.
Lillian will be buried alongside her husband at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. Funeral services will be on January 15, 2019 at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the funeral service at 12:00 pm. Burial will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 9:30 am on January 16, 2019
A local Memorial Service will be held at Harrison Hills Baptist Church in Lanesville, Indiana at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 19, 2019
