Rev. Dr. Clare M. Walter

Rev. Dr. Clare M. (Feltes) Walter, 75, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home. Born Friday, April 9, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Clare (Petty) Feltes. She was a clergy with United Church of Christ, where she served in several churches including Grace St. Johns and Plymouth Congregational Churches in Fort Wayne. She was a former Chaplain at Crossroads where she created the Religious Life Program, and was a Chaplain at several local hospitals. She received her degree from Earlham School of Religion, and her Doctorate of Divinity from the University of Chicago. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church. Surviving are her daughters, Claire (Bryan Sims) Roney and Susan Green, both of Fort Wayne; son, Erv (Casey) Walter of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; partner, Rev. Carole Green of Fort Wayne; former spouse, Ray Walter of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Theo, Owen, Claire, and Amanda; two sisters, Elizabeth Rosignuolo and Sheila Krueger; and one brother, Chuck Feltes. She was also preceded in death by her son, Tom Green; brother, David Feltes; and two sisters, Mary Cooper and Judy O'Connell. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2019, at Plymouth Congregational Church, with calling from 10 to 11 a.m. Calling also from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2019, at the church. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Preferred memorials to Plymouth Congregational Church or Visiting Nurse Hospice Home.
