Odie Lee “Red” Duke, Jr., 89, of Evansville, IN passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019. He was born in Nebo, KY on April 4, 1929 to Odie L. and Madge Duke.
Odie, “Red,” served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a Corporal in the infantry and was highly decorated. Red and Rosetta were married in 1957 and enjoyed 61 years together. He worked at Zenith for 32 years and retired from Creative Press in 2006. Red had a great sense of humor and he was loved by everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Betty Ann Wilson.
Red is survived by wife, Rosetta J. “Sis” Duke; daughters, Laura Simmons, Vicky Duke; son, Eric Duke; grandchildren, Mandy Smith, Elizabeth Irwin, Elise McKeethen, Jacob Duke; great-grandchildren, Juliana Smith, Jay Irwin, Hudson Smith; and brother, Harry Duke.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Alexander West Chapel with burial in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday and 12:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to assist the family with final expenses.
