Gerald Stewart

Gerald Lee Stewart, 79, of Greencastle passed away Friday evening February 1, 2019, at Putnam County Hospital. Gerald was born in Fincastle on December 13, 1939, the son of Claude and Lillian Frances (Newgent) Stewart, and attended Greencastle Schools. Mr. Stewart started work out of High School for the old Zinc mill before going to work at Hanson Stone Quarry where he worked as a Welder and Mechanic for 30 years. He was also a life-long farmer. He was a lifetime member of Moose Lodge #1592. Survivors include four children, Coty Stewart, (wife-Jill), Ty Stewart, Guy Stewart, (Shannon), all of Greencastle, and Chana Stewart, (Jason), Lafayette; five grandchildren, James “Drew”, Jessica, Payne, Sadie, and Joshua Stewart, and a great grandson, Ezekiel Buechler. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 51 years, Charlotte Stewart. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2019, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Clinton Falls Cemetery.
