Obituary of Katie Atkinson
Katherine Nichole Atkinson, 28, of Fairfax Virginia left this world to be with her Lord on Monday February 4, 2019. Katie was born June 27, 1990 in Fairfax Virginia, daughter of Stephen and Pamela Atkinson. She attended Robinson Secondary School where she graduated from in 2008. Katie received her Associate degree from Piedmont Valley Community College in 2016. She was currently employed by Inova Fairfax Hospital as a clinical technician in Pediatrics where she could best express and share her love for children. Katie previously worked at UVA in Pediatrics until Dec 2016. She was a strong advocate for the children who touched her life, always with their best interest in mind. Katie is survived by her parents Steve and Pam Atkinson of Charlottesville, Virginia; her brother Zak and sister Tori, both at home. She also leaves behind her maternal grandmother, Shirley Sears of Waynesboro. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and goddaughter, Aurora that were extremely dear to her. Katie is preceded in death by her infant sister; maternal grandfather, Sterling Sears Jr.; paternal grandfather, William Atkinson, her dear godfather Harry Becky; and loving Aunt Penny Garban. Katie also had a special place in her heart for members of the Craig family that were a part of her life. Katie enjoyed taking long hikes, playing soccer, attending football games, and working out. More than anything, she loved being with her family and friends. Katie was sassy, passionate, strong willed and forthright. She was a great big sister to her siblings and loved to come home to see her “main man” aka Ditka dawg. Those who knew Katie, even just a little, have lost a shining light in their lives. We love and miss you our sweet girl. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville. Viewing hours will be Saturday February 9th from 6-8pm. A service will be held on Sunday February 10th at 11am at Teague Funeral Home followed by burial at Monticello Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to UVA Children’s Hospital, PO Box 800773, Charlottesville VA 22908. Please note that the donation is “In Memory of Katie Atkinson”.
