Albert Gilmore Johnson

Albert Gilmore Johnson, also known as “Papa” to almost everyone he met want home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the age of 89. He was the husband of the late Margaret Johnson. He was born on November 29, 1929 to the late Thomas and Sally Johnson. In addition to his parents and wife, Margaret, he was preceded in death by his son, Kent Johnson and a daughter Sharon Johnson. He was a retired electrician and a US Army Veteran who served in the Korean War. Albert was a loving husband, father, Papa and friend. He is survived by his granddaughter, Crystal Stanley, who he raised since birth and was the light of his life, and her loving husband Mike Stanley, who he thought of as a grandson, as well as their 3 boys, Mikey, DD and Cam who he loved and spoiled their entire life. Also surviving is Crystal’s daddy, Tony, and his wife Patricia May as well as numerous family members and friends including his best friends Joann and Gary Wisecarver. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Rev. Carlton Gunter officiating. Following the service a reception will be held at Fairview Christian Church, 2701 Campbell Avenue, Lynchburg. In lieu of flowers the family requests that the needs of the great grandchildren be considered.
