Norma Jacqueline Bice
Jackie Bice passed away Saturday March 9, 2019 at the age of 86.
She was born in Chilton County, Alabama in 1932, to Leta and Norman Smitherman, and lived in Alabama most of her life. In 2008, she moved to Williamsburg, Virginia to be near her children.
A very proud graduate with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from Auburn University, she taught school for 30 years. Because of her love for the “little ones”, she always taught first grade and kindergarten.
Jackie was a member of Walnut Hills Baptist Church. She enjoyed her association with friends in Williamsburg and continued to keep in contact with her many friends and relatives in Alabama.
Jackie is survived by her husband of 65 wonderful years, Winston Bice; her children: Tim Bice (Judy) and Teresa Gillem (Jennings). She was most proud to be “Mema” to Kate Bucheit (John), Wes Gillem (Meg), Becca Bice, Austin Gillem, Matthew Gillem and to her great grandchild, Grace Gillem, She was looking forward to another great grandchild in June, Baby Bucheit. In addition to family are the many friends she had throughout her life. She was deeply loved by all and will be sorely missed.
A funeral service for Norma Jacqueline will be held at 2:00 pm on July 13 at Mulberry Baptist Church in Maplesville, Alabama. Pastor Andy Mims will officiate.
Memorial donations may be made to Children’s Harbor located at 1 Our Children’s Highway, Alexander City, Alabama 35010 (a resort place for children terminally ill with cancer), or to a charity of choice. Condolences may be sent in c/o Teresa Gillem, 67 Carriage Hill Drive, Poquoson, VA 23662.
