Audrey Augusta Hopkin

Audrey Augusta Hopkin died peacefully at her home in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. Audrey was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, on July 16, 1917. She moved to New York City, when she married her husband Daniel in 1937. Audrey lived a full, active and adventurous life. She did secretarial work, then entered the real estate business when she retired to Florida in 1963. After her husband passed, she moved to Virginia. She volunteered for Meals On Wheels until she was 94, and was a member of a number of other volunteer groups in the Charlottesville area. In her 80's, for recreation, she went sky-diving, parasailing, and piloted a monster speed boat in Florida. She celebrated her 90th birthday by bungee-jumping, and at 92 flew an airplane. She lived independently until she was 101, at which time she suffered a stroke and moved to assisted living. Audrey is survived by her three children, Donald and wife, Patty, Audrey Anne and husband, Gus, and Danny Roy and wife, Marilynn; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
