John R. Gay
July 31, 1931 – March 29, 2019

John R. Gay, 87 of Fort Wayne passed away at 7:30 pm on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Sage Bluff Nursing Facility in Fort Wayne. John was a long time member, since July of 1978, of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Fort Wayne. He was a dedicated employee of Parker Hannifin of New Haven. He enjoyed country music, Ham radios and bowling.
John was born on July 31, 1931 in Glascock County, Georgia, the son of Lonnie M. and Loma Irene (McTier) Gay.
He was united in marriage to Mary Helen Young in 1952. He later married Betty Fredricks on March 24, 1962 in Huntington, she preceded him in death on February 23, 2005.
Survivors include a son: Curtis D. Gay of Decatur, AL; three grandchildren and a niece: Julianne Martin of Thomson, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Wanda Lou Gay; several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 at 1:00 pm following visitation at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Thomas Clark officiating.
Interment will be at the Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington County.
Memorial donations can be made out to Three Angels Broadcasting Network in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
