Phyllis Campbell Spruce

Phyllis Campbell Spruce, 75, of Lynchburg, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019 at the Carrington. She was the wife of the late James Robert Spruce, Sr. Born on December 3, 1943 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Elest Patrick Campbell and the late Sarah Quadell Crist Campbell. Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, mawmaw, and sister. She loved her family and enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her earlier years of life, she enjoyed dancing. Phyllis was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy of Lynchburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth McIntosh and a brother, Clifford Wood. Phyllis is survived by her children, James Robert Spruce, Jr. and wife Kathy, Terrell Wayne Spruce and wife Brenda, Kim Spruce Burton and husband Frederick, and Tina Spruce Burnley and husband Dale; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and siblings, Donald Campbell, Larry Campbell and wife Kay, Fred Campbell and wife Debbie, Linda Harper, Barbara Manning and husband Donald, Wayne Wood and wife Pam, and Ronnie Wood and wife Charlie. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with Pastor Gary Vernon officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
