Doris Marie (Carrier) Dove

Doris Marie Carrier Dove, 89, of Harrisonburg passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019 at Curis in Harrisonburg. She was born on February 20, 1930 in Lacey Spring and was the daughter of the late William Russell and Maudie Mitchell Carrier. Doris grew up and lived in the Rockingham County and Harrisonburg area her entire life. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren and was a private duty nurse. On July 6, 1946 she married Lawrence Turner Dove, who preceded her in death on January 8, 1992. She is survived by sons, Larry Dove and wife, Patricia, of New York, Randy Dove and wife, Sharon of Harrisonburg; grandsons, Ronald L. Nutter, Jr. and Matthew Dove; step-grandchildren, Alex, Brad and Kacey Ewing; a brother, Noland “Dick” Carrier and wife, Dot; sisters, Kathleen Davis and Anna Lee Jones; and a sister-in-law, Linda Carrier. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Lee Cave on June 4, 2016; her brothers, Orville Carrier and wife, Iris, Lloyd Carrier and wife, Susan, Shelton Carrier and Carroll Carrier. A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren Cemetery with Pastor Dan King officiating. The casket will be closed and there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the cemetery board at Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren, 2788 Taylor Spring Lane, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
