Dorothy L Williams

"Never say never because as soon as it is said never will happen." This is the sage advice given by Dorothy L. Williams to anyone who would listen. Of course, her children claim they always listened to their mother. Her other favorite phrase was " wait until tomorrow...it will localize", and everyone believed her because she was an Alexandria School of Nursing graduate. Nursing was truly her professional calling, especially her work with in the preemie nursery. Even when the dementia progressed if we started talking about her nursing experience she would light-up and exclaim, “best job I ever had.” Dorothy is survived by three independent, individual and respected children: James B. Williams, IV (wife Wendy), Jon Hugh Andrew Williams (wife Gina) and Jennifer Michelle Spedden (husband Jim). Her pride in family extends beyond her children to her grandchildren (human and furry): James B. Williams, V; Jenna S. Spedden; Jamie C. Spedden and Max. She would not miss a chance to watch a Soccer game, attend an Irish Dance Competition or clap for a Gymnastics meet. And as for the furry grandchildren she loved to hear about their "day care" escapades. Dorothy also made friends for life as evident by always attending the Gaithersburg High School Reunions. She knew everyone by name and loved to hear about what was happening in their life since last they spoke. She would check-in on friends during early morning phone calls, especially to the Rhodes family where the connection is four generations strong. Dorothy liked to observe, watch, read and do puzzles. Not ever "nosy" just observing and solving the "world’s problems...one at a time". Dorothy, mom, grandma will be missed but we know that she is sitting in a chair, a hot cup of tea by her side continuing to observe us. Those that knew Dorothy appreciate she was a very private person so she requested that her funeral service be private. Therefore, we ask you to leave your words of remembrance here for all to know.
