Harold E. Short, 87 of Barton Lake, Fremont, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Northern Lakes Nursing Center, Angola, Indiana. He also had lived at Jimmerson Lake, and was formerly of Fort Wayne. Harold was born on March 29, 1932 in Paulding County, Ohio to Charles and Roxy (Shiek) Short. Harold grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and graduated from South Side High School in 1950, he later graduated from International Business College. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Harold married Nancy J. Wilson on November 21, 1951 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and she survives. He worked for the former GE Credit Union in Fort Wayne, which later became Midwest America Federal Credit Union, and retired in 1987 as President. Harold enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and fishing. Harold and Nancy enjoyed going RVing and traveled the US and Canada. They also enjoyed living at the lake, and spending their winters in Mission, Texas. He also served as Chairman of the State Credit Union Association, and served as President in 1978. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Short of Barton Lake, Fremont, Indiana, grand-daughters, Sarah Ezzelle, and Mindy (Todd) Harrold, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana, a great-grandson, Miles Harrold of Fort Wayne, Indiana, a step-great-grandson, Drew Person of Fort Wayne, Indiana, a sister, Debra (Gordon) Baney of Quincy, Michigan, and a brother, Douglas Short of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, JoAnn Fiedler in 2011, and a son, Michael E. Short in 1994. Following his wishes cremation will take place. Services are yet to be announced. Memorial donations in his memory are requested to Miles for Myeloma, Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center, 535 Barnhill Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202 or to the donor’s favorite charity.
