James Braxton Black
September 18, 1927 – May 27, 2019

James Braxton Black, 91, of Greencastle, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019.
He was born September 18, 1927 in Greencastle, the son of Robert E. and Mary Crystelle (Stringer) Black and was a graduate of Greencastle High School “Class of 1945”.
He was a United States Army Veteran having served in the South Pacific during WWII.
James was an electrical engineer with IBM for 33 years, retiring in 1988. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge; lifetime member of the V.F.W.; and a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby (Saathoff) Black; daughter, Cindy Black; son, Braxton (Sara) Black; two grandchildren, David (Abby) Black-Disalvo and James Black and a sister, Ruth Eiteljorge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Roberta “Bobbie” Crawley.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM on Friday, May 31st at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the donor’s favorite charity in memory of James.
