Carrie Lynn Mineo

Carrie Lynn Mineo of Lorton, Virginia passed away peacefully on June 4, 2019 at the age of 61. Carrie was born in North Tonawanda, New York to Delores “Dee” Jean and William “Dan” Morrissey. She was the cherished and devoted wife of Lieutenant Colonel Robert “Bob” Bent, US Army retired, and proud mother of Patrick Mineo. Carrie was an adoring grandmother of Laura Lynn and her newly born granddaughter Jordyn Alexis born just last month on May 22 to Patrick and his wife Brittany Anne. Carrie is survived by her four siblings, Michael “Mike” Dan Morrissey, Chris Ann Bray, Jennifer “Jenny” Anne Dumpleton, Marsha Sue Riedy. Carrie always demonstrated her great affection and love for her nieces and nephews, David, Samantha, Nick, Jessie, Emily, Danny and Natalie. A graduate of Kenmore East High School in Tanawanda, she received her nursing degree from Trocaire College of Nursing in Buffalo, New York. After moving to Virginia, Carrie worked as an OB/GYN nurse at Arlington Hospital of northern Virginia, for more than 15 years providing care for new mothers and their babies until her retirement on 1999. Carrie was a loving mother to Patrick Michael Mineo and Jeffrey Alleyn Mineo; mother in law to Brittany Anne Mineo; grandmother to Laura Lynn Mineo and Jordyn Alexis Mineo. A loving sister to Jennifer “Jenny”, Chris, Michael “Mike”, and Marsha. Carrie thoroughly enjoyed traveling to Europe, especially Italy, and her annual family trips to Maine spending serious time sitting on the beach gazing over the ocean waves as they crested on the Atlantic Ocean. Carrie will be deeply missed and will be remembered for her outgoing compassion and generosity. She was a special lady whose captivating smile projected her sincere, genuine love for all those she came in contact with, regardless of background, profession, relationships or origin. Although a retired Registered Nurse (RN) and in spite of her physical challenges she was quick to volunteer to help others. This included her yeoman efforts of support for our Nations’ disabled veterans and family members. She was quick to participating or otherwise support in events at her church, and cheering for the Boston Red Sox. But most of all, she especially enjoyed spending time with her oldest granddaughter Laura who lived close by. The lives of we who love her, whether family, friend, acquaintance or stranger have been greatly enriched by just knowing her and being loved by her as she fulfilled Jesus Christ’s charge to “love one another as He loved us.”
