Joyce Genevee Spires

Joyce Genevee Spires, 92, of Kokomo went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2019. She was born May 5, 1927 to the late Gordon Chelf and Ruby (Tucker) Chelf in Louisville, KY. She married Ivan H. Spires February 19, 1949 in Roley, Kentucky. Ivan passed away October 4, 2003. She was employed by Tri-Central as a bus driver for 13 years. She was an avid quilter, and a faithful servant to the Lord. She was a member of Macedonia Christian Church for over 50 years. Joyce's specialty was making homemade corn patties. She loved canning corn and other garden vegetables. Joyce loved her children and her grandkids and they loved her. Surviving are her children Wendell Spires (Diana), Rita Raney (Kent), Sherri Spires Fry and Nick Spires, grandchildren John Beahrs (Jennifer), Kelly Hoover (Dan), Allison Isenhour (Derek), David Raney (Natasha), Jennifer Sakowski (Brian), Jacob Spires, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Those who have passed before her are parents, husband Ivan, and brother William Chelf Jr. Services for Joyce will take place at Macedonia Christian Church;1532 County Rd S 500 E on Wednesday August 7, 2019 at 1:00pm. The family will offer a visitation from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the church. The burial will be private for family only at Sharpsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, you may contribute to the family to help cover funeral expenses.
