Ruth Marie Lehman

On Tuesday, August 6, 2019, Ruth Marie Lehman (Spry), loving Wife and Mother of 6 children, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 at her residence of the last several years, The Gardens at Fair Oaks in Fairfax, Virginia. Ruth was born August 2, 1925 in Clark County Wisconsin to Hildegard Augusta Spry (Prange) of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin and Lloyd Lincoln Spry of Bloom, Wisconsin. She was raised in Granton, Wisconsin where she graduated from High School and then attended St. Joseph’s Nursing school in Marshfield, Wisconsin receiving her Nursing degree. She married Raimon William Lehman of Granton, Wisconsin on June 15, 1946. They raised 6 children while being a career military family, eventually retiring in Fairfax City, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her husband Raimon W. Lehman, sister Marian Burnett, brother Robert Spry, daughter Kay Jonas, and Grandson Bryan Hoopengardner. She is survived by her loving children: Jeannie (Michael) Carruth, Joan (David) Hoopengardner, Raimon W. Lehman, Jr., David (Naomi) Lehman, Larry (Colleen) Lehman and son-in-law Leroy Jonas; dear grandchildren Cherilyn (Michael) McCall, Melissa (Daniel) Saint-Victor, David (Sarah) Hoopengardner,Jr., Stephen (Leslie) Hoopengardner, Anne (Lawrie) Heyworth, Allison (Brian) Carnes, Shannen Lehman, Ginny Lehman, Jeanine Lehman and James Lehman; cherished great-grandchildren Caroline, Olivia, Connor, Emma, Jonas, Emilynn, Tripp, Lily and Taylor; and sisters Bonnie Hill and Nancy Anderson. Ruth enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking, and being active in her Church. She was an exceptional Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend to all. A celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 14 at Demaine Funeral Home, 10565 Main Street, Fairfax, Virginia, 22030. Visitation will begin at 5:00pm, followed by a brief service at 6:00pm. After the service there will be light refreshments. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
