Pauline Fincham Jenkins

Pauline Fincham Jenkins died August 21, 2019 peacefully at her home at the age of 91. Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her adoring son, Collis C. Jenkins III. Mrs. Jenkins was the sustaining strength behind one of Culpeper’s longest running businesses, Baby Jim’s Snack Bar, founded by her late husband Collis C. Jenkins Jr.--Culpeper’s beloved Baby Jim. The daughter of the late Robert and Annie Fincham, she is also survived by her siblings Jack Fincham, Joe FIncham and Doris Creel. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Jenkins, as well as many adoring nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jenkins is preceded in death by her siblings Margret Ann Lee, Ruth Kilby, Jean Shaffer and Billy Fincham. A native of Rappahannock County and a graduate of Rappahannock County High School, Mrs. Jenkins launched her career at the Culpeper Diner--riding a bus to town weekly to work weekends--where she met Baby Jim and launched a life of love, purpose and service to the Culpeper community. She enjoyed her family, adored her husband, and her son Collis was the light of her life until her very last day. Mrs. Jenkins selflessly greeted her valued customers at Baby Jim’s until she was 87 years old. Tirelessly, flipping the switch which lit the iconic neon sign illuminating Main Street at 4:30 am every operating morning as her customers started their day. Always closed on Sundays, Pauline would enjoy home cooked Sunday dinners with her family. First, her parents and siblings , then her late husband and son. In addition to the Snack Bar, Mrs. Jenkins also supported Baby Jim in launching and operating Rock Hill Farm. The farm operation focused on raising Black Angus Cattle and still does today. Mrs. Jenkins took great pride in watching her son make it his own as it evolved into a wedding venue serving the Culpeper community and beyond while remaining true to its agricultural roots. The twilight of Mrs. Jenkins’ life was spent looking over the lot of Baby Jim’s Snack Bar and the cattle and weddings of Rock Hill Farm with a peace and contentment representative of a life well lived--working hard, focusing on family and doing right by others. Mrs. Jenkins enjoyed many years in Winter Haven, Florida where she and her late husband always welcomed friends and family during the winter season. But her heart always belonged to Culpeper. The twilight of Mrs. Jenkins’ earthly journey was enhanced by her caregivers, Pat Banks and Brenda Miller. Pallbearers include Drew Hudson, Michael deNobel, Juan Saldana, Chad Lee, Travis Stanley, and Fred Ayers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 25, 2019, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA 22701. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home with interment in Fairview Cemetery.
