Richard L. Reed

Richard L. Reed, 94, of Kokomo passed away at 8:10 PM Monday August 26, 2019 at Community Howard Regional Health, Kokomo. Born March 24, 1925 in Kokomo, he was the son of the late James Franklin Reed and Aldine (Little) Reed. He was a 1943 graduate of Kokomo High School. On December 9, 1969 in Kokomo, he married A. Lucille (Fearnow), who preceded him in death on September 4, 2017. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, serving in World War II. He was employed with Delco Electronics for over 45 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #292. He enjoyed building sprint cars, car racing and golfing. Survivors include three sons Michael Reed of Toledo, OH, David Reed of Cincinnati, OH, and Kyle Reed of Watertown, MA; one daughter Angela (Denny) Smith of Gainesville, FL; one step-daughter Rita (Bruce) Carter of Kokomo; two brothers Dr. William Reed of Kansas City, MO and Erving (Carlee) Reed of Muncie; one sister Wanda Reed of Indianapolis; sister-in-law Lucy (Jay) Reed of Kokomo; 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers Jimmy Reed, Jay Reed, Lowell Reed; one sister Mary Lou Snead. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Primrose and Community Howard Regional Hospital for providing exceptional care. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday August 31, 2019 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Pastor and nephew Greg Reed will officiate. Burial with military rites will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort, IN. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday at the mortuary.
