Harry "Pete" G. Auten
April 4, 1951 – September 23, 2019

Harry “Pete” G. Auten, 68 of Huntington passed away at 10:13 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Pete left his senior year of high school to serve in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany and the Vietnam War. He served from Dec 31, 1969 thru June 6, 1989 in the Army and the Army National Guard. He also worked for the Dana Corporation in Andrews for over 30 years. Pete was an avid Ohio State fan, especially the Woody Hayes Era. He also held the rank of “Number 1 Grandpa”.
Pete was born on April 4, 1951 in New Martinsville, WV, the son of Arthur and Cleona (Inghram) Auten. They preceded him in death.
Survivors include Menda Auten and their two daughters: Jessica (Ryan) Harkless of Roanoke and Meghan (Kori) Brooks of Warsaw; two grandsons; Alex and Cooper; six sisters: Nancy Hartley, Donna Arnold, Kathy Yoder, Margaret Hodge, Sharon Doersam and Brenda McCort; two brothers: Sonny Auten and June Auten.
He was preceded in death by his faithful companion Graham; four sisters: Pat Johnson, Mary Auten, Betty Wilson and Kitty Johnson; and a brother Robert Auten.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 2:00pm – 8:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.
Interment will be at the Lagro Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made out to Huntington County Humane Society in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
