John Lee Carson, 66, of Columbus, died September 23, 2019 at IU Health – Methodist. He was born in Seymour and moved to Columbus less than a year later. He met & married the love of his life, Jane Herron, in 1979 and they moved to Chicago in 1980 to take a job as manager of the installation dept. of a cable company. In 1989 the proudest achievement of his life happened when he and Jane adopted their beautiful daughter Courtney. After spending 23 years in Chicago he and his family moved back to Columbus Some of John’s favorite times were spending time with his daughter, Courtney, going to museums, playing guitar and singing. He also enjoyed going to flea markets with his favorite uncle, Bill Castetter, playing cards and watching sports with lifelong friend, Ross Ricketts, and playing with his dog Charlie. John was a warm, friendly & funny person. Once you met him you could see the goodness and honesty in him and he never failed to entertain the room with endless stories and anecdotes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lavena (Beanie) Carson; and aunt, JoAnn Castetter. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jane; his daughter, Courtney (Lance) Short of Franklin; his sister, Nancy (Bob) Phillips of Venice FL; and Uncle, Bill Castetter of North Vernon. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Jason Phillips, Corey Herron, Casey Hockenbury, Rustin Edwards, and Robbie Edwards. At his request, there will be no funeral services.
