Obituary of Marvin Quentin Mattison
Marvin Quentin Mattison passed away Wednesday, November 20 at Meadows Manor North. He was born in Beloit, Wisconsin June 21, 1933 to Rex and Ethel (Woodstock) Mattison. He married Sharon (Shari) Huxford September 7, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada and she survives. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert of Beloit, Wisconsin and Ronald of Lake Havasu, Arizona. He is survived by his four children, Valerie Dulisse (Chuck) of Pickerington, Ohio, Victoria Armi of Janesville, Wisconsin, Marvin W. Mattison of Terre Haute and Lisa Marie Mattison also of Terre Haute. Also, six grandchildren, Dr. Brandon Dulisse (Melissa) of Murrysville, Pennsylvania, Steven (Chelsea) of Gilbert, Arizona, Jeffrey Armi of Visalia, California, Nicole Armi of San Diego, California, Amanda Roberts of Terre Haute and Joseph Mattison of Shelburn. He is also survived by his mother-In-law, Donna Huxford of rural Rosedale, two sisters-in-laws, Doris Mattison of Beloit, Wisconsin and Jane Mattison of Paradise, California. Also, brother-in-law, David Huxford (Rhonda) of rural Rosedale and Sister-in-law, Karen McHargue (Dick) of Roachdale. Marv was proud to have served three years in the United States Marine Corps including time in South Korea. He is a Life Member of the Marine Corps League and served as their Paymaster for several years. He also is a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 972. Marv was part of the initial Administration sent to open the J. I. Case Plant in Terre Haute and served as the Controller throughout the life of that operation. The plant was closed in 1987 and he stayed on and closed the Bettendorf, Iowa plant and the Rock Island, Illinois plants for the J. I. Case Corporation. He also was part owner of The Place Tavern for many years and Below the Salt Olde English Pub. In later years he sold used cars as a sole proprietor, owned a couple of garage repair shops and did a lot of golfing. He particularly enjoyed his four legged pets that included at one point twelve dogs and a cat, all of which hailed from the Terre Haute Humane Society except for one that skipped passing through the shelter and came by way of a county road east of his house. The family wishes to thank the workers at Meadows Manor North, especially Sarah and Pinky—she will know who I mean. Also, Dana and Susan of Southern Care Hospice, Danny Burke of Davita, Dr Gaurav and Union Hospital doctors and staff. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 21 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home with Pastor Perry Mager officiating. Military Honors will be rendered.
