Edward Joseph Derringer

Edward Joseph Derringer, 36, of Louisville, Kentucky; formerly of Connersville, died Sunday, December 15, 2019. He will be missed very much, he was a very loving husband, father, son, brother and nephew. Eddie was born, September 23, 1983, to Edward Jesse Derringer and Mary (Maggie) Higbie Pitstick. He was a 2002 graduate from Connersville High School; Eddie moved to Louisville twelve years ago and started his own business. Owner and operator of Derringer Professional Flooring, he took pride in his business and his customers. Eddie also enjoyed his 1959 Ford Fairlane, which he restored. He also enjoyed going to car shows and anywhere he could find a Pizza King. He was an avid softball coach and sponsored several teams at Germantown Baseball Park. He was a big fan of the University of Kentucky, football and basketball teams. He was a member of the Kentucky and Indiana Carpenters Union Local #301, Knight of Columbus Jr. Squires, St. Gabriel and St. Stephen Martyr catholic churches. He was a faithful attendee of A.A. for twelve years. Eddie is survived by his wife: Lydia Marie Nichole Bailey Derringer; a son: Gavyn Lee Joseph Derringer; daughters: Karin Marie Derringer and Azlynn LaShaun Kennedy Foster all of Louisville, Kentucky; his mother Mary “Maggie” Pitstick and his dad Michael (Mike) Francis Pitstick of Connersville; his father: Edward Jesse Derringer and his wife Sonja, of Gleenwood; nephew: Levi Michael Robert Derringer of Connersville; brothers: Joshua Lee Derringer and his fiancé Amy Wolfe of Connersville; Jesse Dale Derringer and his fiancé Melissa of Neniva, Indiana; Carl Francis Pitstick of Connersville; sister: Mary (Maribeth) Elizabeth Pitstick of Greenwood, Indiana; aunts and uncles: Martha Ann (Earnest) Nobbe, Patty Lou Keenan, Kathleen (Brackie) Byrd, Georgetta Higbie, Danny Lutz, Melvin (Bev) Higbie, Marvin (Vicki) Hignbie,Valerie Higbie, Rose Tanskley, Debbie Paggett, Shawn Derringer Hardy, Robert Derringer, Beth White, Bart (Sue) Pitstick, Milissa Miller (Cliff Neal), Joseph Derringer, Scott Miller, Anita Faye Brown; brother in-law: Chris (Christina) Bailey of Greensburg, Indiana; Zack (Jessica) Bailey of Marion, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Melvin and Mary Higbie, Joseph and Roberta Derringer, William “Bill” and Leona “Toots” Pitstick; aunts, uncles and cousins; Donna Jean Lutz, Robby Higbie, Riley Pitstick, Brendan Higbie, Darrell Harrison and Willie Isaacs. Father and mother in-law: Gary and Karen Bailey. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2019, at St. Gabriel Church in Connersville with the Rev. Dustin Boehm officiating. Interment will follow at Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2019 and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for an educational fund for Eddie’s children.
