Barbara Ruby Hanlin, 74, of Warsaw, VA, passed away on January 10, 2020 in Tappahannock, VA.
Barbara was born in Washington, D.C. to Eugene and Frances Featherall on June 29, 1945. She married Benjamin “Cookie” Cook on November 15, 1963 in Elizabeth City, NC and was widowed on September 30, 1991. She married Delmos “Mike” Hanlin on August 19, 1992 in Dale City, VA and was widowed on August 2, 2008. She worked as a beautician from 1967 to 1980, maintaining her license until 2011. She also worked as a meat wrapper for Giant Food for 14 years before retiring in 1996.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Frances, her husband’s Cookie and Mike, and one sister, Kay.
Barbara is survived by one son, Thomas Cook: three grandchildren, Bobbi Smith, Thomas “TJ” Cook, and Clint Cook: three great-Grandchildren, Keisler Fechner, Mason Fechner, and Alexandra Cook: seven sisters, Ellie, Marcie, Frannie, Toni, Mary, Sue and Janet: and one brother, Gene.
Visitation will be 11:00am Tuesday, January 14 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service in Stafford, VA. Funeral services will follow at 12:00pm with Pastor Mark Grooms of Thomas Terrace Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be held at 11:00am Thursday, January 16 at Stafford Memorial Park Cemetery located adjacent to Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
