Obituary of Yvonne Frances Rababa
Yvonne Rababa died at her residence in Indianapolis on February 12. She was 96. Miss Rababa was an IPS English teacher and librarian for 32 years. She had a BA and an MA from Butler University and after retiring from Arlington High School, she returned to her alma mater to teach freshman English for two years. She continued her passion for the great literary masterpieces throughout her life. Miss Rababa was born on January 8, 1924 to Lebanese immigrants. Richard and Nezera Rababa arrived in Indianapolis in 1906 and raised their family there. Adele Rababa, George Rababa, Emilie Rababa, Agnes Rababa Mangus and Alice Rababa Hoeping all preceded Yvonne in death. Miss Rababa was a devout Catholic and she was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in downtown Indianapolis for many decades. She graduated from St John’s Academy in 1941 and she continued to attend Mass at St. John’s for the rest of her life. Miss Rababa prided herself in keeping current and understanding world affairs. She loved to travel and she took numerous trips to broaden her understanding of the world and various cultures. Miss Rababa loved elegant living and she often entertained her nieces and nephews in her home. She was a proud aunt of John Mangus, Donna Mangus Carter, Paul Mangus, Paulette Mangus Sanders, Richard Hoeping, Marie Hoeping, Angie Hoeping Nighswander, Dianna Hoeping Hitchcock, and Jeannie Hoeping Berghorn. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 126 W Georgia St, Indianapolis, IN 46225 on Thursday, February 20, 2020 with the funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m.
