Obituary of Donna Laura May Eppelheimer
Donna Laura May (Koontz) Eppelheimer, 98 years, passed away in her sleep on February 12, 2020. She is survived by her daughters, Sally (Paul) Alexander and Peggy (Jerrold) Weissinger; grandchildren, Benjamin (Andrea) Alexander, Sarah (Jason) Weissinger Fronczak, Mary (Aaron) Weissinger McCartney, Scott Alexander and great-grandchildren; Harrison and Samuel Fronczak, Patrick and Laura McCartney Donna was born in Chicago on December 17, 1921. She married Robert Eppelheimer November 15, 1947 and they moved to Greencastle where Bob managed Angwell Curtain Company. Donna fell in love with Indiana and continued to live in her beloved Greencastle until the age of 90 years. Donna was active in the Greencastle community throughout her life. As a young woman she was secretary to the president of DePauw University and worked again as a secretary for the University Art Center in the 1960s. Donna and Bob began Flair Draperies in 1963. After Bob’s death in 1980, Donna continued to run this successful Greencastle business which was in operation for more than 34 years. She was also a realtor for Evans Real Estate. Donna volunteered extensively. She served as president of the Ridpath PTA and chaired the famous Pancake Supper many times; was an active member of Greencastle Presbyterian Church; served with the Girl Scouts of Covered Bridge Council as neighborhood chairman, was a troop leader for over 10 years for both her daughters’ troops, directed day camp at Camp Ferncliff; and taught Red Cross swimming at Robe Ann Park. Donna loved to travel and shared this love with her family by taking them on many fantastic family trips and cruises. Visitation will be Saturday, March 14, 2020. 10:00-11:00 a.m. Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home. Graveside service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Forest Hill Cemetery.
