Obituary of Dwanna F. Matlock
Dwanna F. Matlock, 78, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Chauncey Maynard and Margaret G. (Anger) Canaan on September 10, 1941 in Big Rapids, MI. She met and married William H. Matlock at Village Green Free Methodist Church, now The Journey Church. They were married on November 28, 1975. Dwanna was a life-long active member of The Journey Church. She retired as the Director of Housekeeping at the Holiday Inn in 2006. After retiring, she stayed active by part-time work at Costco serving samples and crossing guard for EACS. Dwanna enjoyed spending time with her family, decorating, baking, cooking, and entertaining. Dwanna never met a stranger and was always full of life. Dwanna is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bill Matlock; daughters, Sandy (Sam Shaheen) Townsley, Debby (Denny) Weimer, and Stephanie Niemeyer all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Ryan (Lela) Lothamer, Kristin Townsley, Kayla Lothamer, Kassie Townsley, Corey Morton, Haley (Kurt) Glasner, Kerigan Lothamer, and Danielle (Tracen) Murphy; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Nina (Bob) Rodocker; brother, David (Edy) Canaan; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Rich) Meyer, Earlene Canaan, and Joyce Canaan; and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Sessoms and brothers, Lawrence Canaan and Byron Canaan. Funeral service will be on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Greenlawn Funeral Home (6600 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804) at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to The Journey Church or Cancer Services Of Northeast Indiana.
