Murphy Funeral Homes
Suzanne Munson died of COVID-19 and pneumonia on May 11th, 2020. She celebrated her 80th birthday earlier this year. She was born Suzanne Gebhardt in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, moved in state, and graduated from Black River Falls High School. She had fond memories of her college days at The University of Wisconsin—Madison, where she met her eventual husband, Gene Munson, who predeceases her. She is survived by three children, Michelle M.,Timujin D. and Bjorn J. Munson, and three grandchildren, Zachary, Sophia and Elijah.
She was a great lover of music, played piano and enjoyed going to the National Symphony Orchestra and Washington Opera. She was also a children's librarian who passed her love of the written word to all her children. An avid reader, she devoured books at an astounding pace. Ask her "What are you reading?" and it would normally be two or three books at once or a new one each week. She particularly enjoyed mysteries, but read most genres. Although she generally had a quiet demeanor, put on a football game with her beloved Packers and the mild-mannered side disappeared, as she'd yell at the TV to "Tackle!" She was also active in her church and donated to it and several other charities. She will be especially remembered for her unfailing spirit of generosity and kindness.
