Obituary of Richard Lee Brooks
Richard Lee Brooks, 91 of Evansville IN passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Linda E. White Hospice House. He was born in Evansville, IN. on October 21, 1928. He was a 1948 graduate of Reitz High School. He served in the Marines during the Korean War in 1950. He worked at Chrysler for 11 years prior to Mead Johnson. Richard retired from Mead Johnson after 31 years. He became a member of Northside Church of the Nazarene in 1946, he was very active in the church and received the distinguished service award in 1989. He loved singing at church, playing golf, and his guitar. “Our father was a very loving, thoughtful caring man and over the years touched a lot of people. His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was his teacher and he loved to give to others. If this Saint touched your life in even some small way please come and celebrate his life with us. The funeral home is now open for public visitations, however we will still practice safety precautions, Jesus will be there with us and shower us with blessings. Thank you Jesus for all you have done for our family. Amen” He was preceded in death by parents, Melvin and Helen Brooks; his sister, Betty Ross. Richard is survived by his wife of 70 years Lois E. Brooks; daughter, Brenda Brooks Hughes (Charles F Hughes II); son, Melvin Brooks (Lisa); sister, Charlene Roberts; grandchildren, Christina Hughes, Nick Hughes (Nicole), Harley Avery; great grandchildren, Alex, Joseph, and Jocelynne; sister-in-law, Joyce Cowell (Dave); brother-in-law, Dennis Lane (Judy); nieces and nephews, Randy Ross (Darlene), Jeff Ross (Jackie), Dale Ross and Pam Ross Coursey (Gary), Peggy Woodruff (Scott), Amy Carter, John Carter (Malarin), and many great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Pastor Cathy West, with burial in Tupman Cemetery. Friends may visit Saturday, 10:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
