Sharon A. (Durbin) Ballew Shope

Sharon A. (Durbin) Ballew Shope, 71, passed away June 17, 2020 at Baptist Health Floyd. She was born December 9, 1948 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Maxine Lambert Brock and Charles Durbin. Sharon was an employee of Floyd Memorial Hospital for 34 years. After retiring from Floyd Memorial, she worked part-time at the Physicians Medical Center in New Albany. Sharon was also a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and was an avid U of K fan. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her step-mother, Marjorie Durbin; sisters, Diann Rodriquez, Donna Howard, and Patty Weedman; and her dog, Taffy, who she loved so much. Survivors include her husband, Wayne Shope; two children, Chet Ballew, Jr. (Leslie) and Natalie Bennett (George); stepchildren, Tammy Casey and Rick Shope; stepfather, George Brock; sisters, Rhonda Collins (Jack), Becky DeLong, Doreen Miller, Janet Kelley (Curtis); brother, Michael Durbin (Jo); several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and ex-husband and friend, Chet Ballew, Sr. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Nikki and Judy. Visitation will be 1 pm ~ 6 pm Sunday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany. Her Funeral Service will be 11 am Monday in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with burial to follow in Horner’s Chapel Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Indiana.
