Obituary of Aregash Menegsha
The Life of Aregash Mengesha Argesh Mengesha better known as ‘Almazeye’ was born in 1935 in Goha Tsion, Ethiopia within the province of Showa. She was the daughter of Auto Mengesha Ware and Wizero Adgiduge Megany. In her teenage years, Almazeye moved to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to join the rest of her family. In Addis, she grew into a beautiful woman and started a family of her own. Almazeye was the mother to three children; Genet, Alemayehu, and Solomon. In 1991, Almazeye moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana to do what she loved most, support her family. Since moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana she helped raise three of her grandchildren; Edna, David and Isaiah Makonnen. For the past 29 years, she was deeply loved and known to be the Mother to all in the Fort Wayne Ethiopian community. As her family continued to grow, Almazeye was blessed to have in total; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was a true matriarch of the family. Nothing made Almazeye happier than seeing her entire family and extended family together during the holidays. She loved seeing all of her relatives gather to eat, laugh, and celebrate the holidays as a family. She especially loved Easter because she would host and gather the family at her home. Her favorite activities were preparing Ethiopian food, brewing coffee, baking bread to eat and enjoy with family and friends. Almazeye was known as an animated storyteller, telling funny jokes, teasing family members but most importantly, sharing advice and praying for those around her. Almazeye will always be remembered as a selfless mother, grandmother and key pillar of her family. She will always be remembered for her wisdom and guidance, and her deep love for her Lord and Savior. As everyone knows, Almazeye was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and within the past 2 years, she fought cancer leaning on faith to see the special moments in her life she anticipated to see. She never showed her pain and fought with everything she had to enjoy every last minute with her family. She was thankful for the beautiful life she lived and has finally transitioned into eternal life to join her beloved son, Alemayehu, who preceded her in death.
