Anita E. Williams

Anita Williams passed away peacefully at age 99 after a brief illness on July 15, 2020. Anita was the fourth of eight children born to the late Warren Richard White and Malta (McIntire) White in 1921. Anita saw many changes in her long life. She experienced the great depression during her formative years. She met her future husband when she was a teen and they married in 1941 just as World War II was looming. She was a Rosie the riveter, assembling airplane wings for Republic Aviation in California. After the war, she and her husband James returned to Evansville where they started their family raising their 2 daughters. After her children were grown, she helped James build their home on Darmstadt Rd. and she returned to the workforce, working at Crescent Plastics for many years. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors and was devoted to her church, attending Trinity Wesleyan and later Christian Fellowship Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Jane Ann Barnett; her husband James Harold Williams; and siblings, Max White, Wayne White, Wanda Phyllis Taylor, Mary White, Rev. Robert White, and Rachel White. She is survived by her daughter Brenda (Glen) Garvey of Evansville; grandchildren Laura Barnett of Indianapolis, Lindsey (David) Wilkerson of Evansville, Julie (Cameron) Martin of Evansville, and Andrea (Nick) Lendy of Evansville; great grandchildren Ella, Sydney, Alek, and Carter; sister Doris Farmer and nieces and nephews.
