Obituary of Pamela Lee Franklin
Pam Franklin was born October 8, 1953, in Saginaw, Michigan to Leonard and Monica Franklin. After graduating from Grand Valley State Colleges in 1979 with a BS in nursing, she moved to Indianapolis, where she worked nights in an ICU unit and attended master level classes during the day. Seeking a different, more encompassing role in nursing, Pam worked in public health, established St. Francis Hospital’s home health care/hospice program, and with her family in 2013 founded Simply Home Health in Noblesville where she served as the CEO. Private and independent in her own life, never wanting to be the center of attention, hating to have her picture taken, generous to a fault, Pam always placed others’ needs before her own. Although a workaholic, Pam found time for foreign travel and mission trips in the U.S. Her adventures provided abundant material for her amusing storytelling. Pam’s legacy is embodied in the agency that she founded and her wonderful staff that she trained. They share her belief in the innate worth of all individuals, that each person in their care is treated with quality care, dignity, respect, and compassion. Patients always come first. Pam fought a fierce battle with cancer ending August 18, 2020. She was grateful to the doctors and staff at Community-North Cancer Center for their care and kindness. She is survived by her sister, Marlene, her brothers Nick (Linda), and Rod and their families. Per Pam’s wishes there will be no memorial service. A collector of stray cats in her childhood and a lover of all animals, a memorial donation may be sent to the Kokomo Humane Society.
