Obituary of Lawrence "Larry" Boyce Sr.
Lawrence J. Boyce was born on September 22, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri to the parents of John L. Boyce and Bernice Benson. Lawrence J. Boyce was educated in the Chicago and St. Louis school systems. Lawrence was a faithful member of Phillips Temple CME Church where he served as a Stewart and sung in the Choir and the Male Chorus. Lawrence attended welding school in Peoria, Illinois. Soon after he gained employment with General Motors, and retired after 40 years of service. Lawrence was a historic figure at Allison Transmission for being one of the first black skilled welder when General Motors had ownership. After retirement he was employed with various companies to keep himself busy. In 2015 he began working at Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery as a Funeral Services Assistant. A dedicated worker, he was better known as “Cool Breeze” and no matter what the occasion was, he was always dressed with a impeccable taste of style! Lawrence was a first class gentleman, he was loving, caring, and a giving person who loved the Lord. Lawrence loved his Harley Davidson Bike and photography. Lawrence J. Boyce Sr., departed this life on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at the age of 80 and is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Those he leaves to mourn is his faithful, loving and dedicated wife Jacqueline Boyce, three children; (the twins) Linda (Michael), Lawrence Jr., and Robert (Renae). Sister, Leria (Darryl), brother-in-law Robert, sister-in-law, Mildred, eight grandchildren, twenty-one great-great grandchildren, three great-great-great grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
