Obituary of Delores A. Johnson Mueller
Delores A. Johnson Mueller, 96, passed away comfortably at her home, Holiday Retirement Village. She was born in Evansville, Indiana to the late Phillip Maienschein and Marie (Morgan) Crawford and was the youngest of two children. Dody, as she was preferred to be called, was a graduate of Central High School. She began her working career at 17 years of age. She was one of the youngest employed by Republic Aviation. She was proud of her contribution to the war effort. She married Manson George Johnson after the war and became the mother of three children, Diana, Jimmy and Manson Scott Johnson. Her husband passed early and she became a single mother. Dody was later employed by Kent Plastics where she remained until retirement. Dody enjoyed playing golf and was extremely proud of a “Hole in One” that she earned at Hamilton Golf Course. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed sharing her experiences at Bethel Manor with residents when she visited with a longtime friend Bill. Dody was a lifetime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. She loved helping the Ladies Auxiliary decorate for Christmas, her favorite holiday. She was a member of The Coterie of Evansville, where she met her late husband, Arthur J. Mueller. The Coterie was a formal ballroom dance organization where Dody danced the nights away. She treasured the holiday gatherings with her family. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Grover Brown (WW2), her second husband and father of her children, Manson (Butch) Johnson, her son, Jimmy Johnson, and her late husband, Arthur J. Mueller. Delores is survived by her sister, Ester Grisham of Evansville; daughter, Diana Rumsey; son, Manson Scott Johnson; two grandsons, Shawn (Stacy) Rumsey and Shane Rumsey of Denver, CO; granddaughters, Emily (John) Searle and Erin Johnson; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at Alexander West Chapel, with burial in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit on Tuesday from 10:00 am. until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh Humane Society.
