Norman "Eddie" Edward German Jr.

Norman Edward “Eddie” German, Jr, 80, of Arlington, died September 10 at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA. Eddie was born July 17, 1940, in Washington, DC to Norman Edward German, Sr and Eleanor Louise Neal. His 1958 senior class was the first to graduate from George Mason Senior High School in Falls Church, VA. Eddie also played football and ran track in his four years. In 1959 he attended University of Virginia before joining the U.S. Air Force. Eddie was stationed at Barksdale AFB maintenance division in Bossier City, LA. He married Claire Feeney in his bride’s backyard on June 5, 1976 in Arlington, VA. Eddie and Claire recently celebrated their 44th Anniversary during their Friday date night at one of their favorite restaurants, IHOP. They also loved going to various ice cream shops in Arlington. They enjoyed spending their summers at Chincoteague, VA. Eddie loved classical music, US Civil War history, Washington Football Team, Washington Nationals and pasta from Olive Garden. He was employed from 1971 to 1996 as a mail clerk at the National Wildlife Federation in Vienna. Eddie then worked full-time at Arlington Church of Christ from 1995-1999. He was later hired at a top security clearance as an Environmental Control Officer at Ft Belvoir Army Base in Fairfax County, VA. Eddie retired in 2012. He was predeceased by his parents and three step sons. Eddie is survived by his wife Claire of Arlington, sister Bonnie Beaver of Leesburg, nephew John R Bowers Jr of Leesburg, niece Barbara C Smeins of Georgetown, TX; two step daughters-in-law; six step grandchildren, thirteen step great grandchildren and one step great great grandchild. He was also loved by his church members of Arlington Church of Christ and his neighbors in Arlington, VA. He will be buried on Friday, October 23rd at 1:30 pm at Union Cemetery in Leesburg, VA.
