Obituary of Merrill Hutchins

Merrill “Slim” W. Hutchins (89) of Williamsburg, Virginia, was born in Brandon, Vermont and went home to be with the Lord on Monday September 14, 2020. Slim was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He did not know a stranger. He is known for his quick wit, friendly nature and sense of humor, also his love of old country music and westerns. He was a Korean War Veteran, was a truck driver for many years in Vermont, and then retired from Ball Metal after working there for over 20 years in Williamsburg, Va. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Marjorie Ruth; parents, Helen and Stewart Hutchins; his brothers, Stewart and Eugene “Buster”; sister, Harriet Therrien; and brother-in-law Albert Bombardier. He was also preceded in death by his son in law David Riley. He is survived by his sister, Ruth B. Bombardier; sons, Joseph (MiHee), and Merrill (Lois); daughters, Ruth Riley and Edwina (Ken) Turner; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Shirley and Trey Adkins (Ethan and Jase), James Hutchins, Ian and Tori Nickerson (Colt), Bobby and Charleen Gill (Athena), Tiffanee and Terry Wheeler (Jayon, Ruthie and Joseph), David Riley, Richard Riley, Krystle Hutchins, Tasha Hutchins (Zymir), Tomoko and Phillip Frejlach (Gage), Kaitlyn and Matt Stewart (Madison), Kenneth Turner, Austin Turner and Kendall Connerley. The family will receive family and friends at Nelsen Funeral Home Williamsburg, for a visitation from 3-7:00pm on Thursday, September 24th, 2020. A service will be held on Friday, September 25th, 2020 at 1pm at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg.
