Obituary of Frank Martin Varner, Sr.
Frank Martin Varner, Sr., 91, of Staunton passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Augusta Health. Born November 8, 1928 in Highland County, he was the son of the late Raymond and Reba (Botkin) Varner. Frank was a member of The Salvation Army Church, Staunton. He was a U.S. veteran having served his country honorably with the Navy as a Seaman. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the former Crompton Plant in Waynesboro where he was a faithful employee for 35 years. He was an avid bowler whose teammates referred to him by his nickname “Speedy”. In addition to bowling, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking cruises with his family, and enjoying a cup of coffee with his friends at the Staunton Mall. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, nephew and friend to many. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly Varner; son, Frank Varner, Jr.; son-in-law, Ricky Morris; sisters, Violet and Pauline; and brother, Bobby Varner. Survivors include his two daughters, Sandra Varner Turner and husband, Mark of Evansville, IN, and Tammie Varner Morris of Staunton; someone he considered like a daughter, Jennelle Moran; grandchildren, Markus Lloyd, Kyrstin Morris, Lizzie Turner, Bramwell Turner, and Demearise Lane; great-grandchildren, Damian Lloyd, Gabriel Lloyd, Logan Lloyd, and Tiffany Lane; sisters, Helen McClear of Staunton and Lucille Biby of Staunton; uncles, Delmar Botkin, Delton Botkin, Gary Botkin, and A.J. Botkin and their families; and a number of nieces and nephews. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2020 at The Salvation Army, 1700 W.
