Obituary of Dennis Ray Buckner
DENNIS RAY BUCKNER Born October 7, 1954 to the proud parents of Leonard and Cleo Buckner. DENNIS was the youngest son of three brothers and four sisters. DENNIS was a magnificent student. He attended Westlane Middle School where he excelled in every course. Later, he attended North Central High School where he graduated at 17years old. DENNIS possessed many God given gifts/talents…cutting hair, barbequing, gardening and landscaping. His most memorable client was Dick the Bruiser’s yard. He did such a great job, that the former known wrestler taught DENNIS a number of his wrestling moves. DENNIS also loved sports, in particular: basketball, football and boxing. DENNIS was honored to share his testimony with everyone and tried his best to encourage others to recovery. He gave GOD thanks for bringing him through his life’s trials and tribulations, and took no hesitation in telling you. His last position was a supervisor over The Men’s Recovery House. DENNIS took pride in his position. DENNIS worshiped at Jerusalem Temple, under the leadership of Pastor Jefferson. DENNIS, is the father of two sons: Torrell (Tory) Buckner and James (Jay) Easter, and the grandfather of nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death is his Father and Mother, along with his oldest brother: William C. Cooper. He is survived by four sisters; Berdia Mae Sanders, Kathleen Buckner, Ivinea Hughes, Julie Ann Buckner. Two brothers; Leonard Dewayne Buckner and Winfield Cooper. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and church members. Funeral services for Dennis will be held on Saturday, October 17, Noon at Jerusalem Temple Apostolic, 2125 E 54th St, Indianapolis, IN 46220, with visitation from 10:00 am until time of service.
