Mabel Edith Kiefer

Mabel Edith (Koenig) Kiefer, 93 of Evansville, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. She was born November 22, 1926 to the late Carl and Roxanna Koenig. Mabel graduated from Reitz High School in 1944. She married Earl Kiefer on June 3, 1947. She traveled some with Earl when he was in service. Mabel worked for National City Bank in the downtown location of Evansville for 7 years. She also worked for Servel for a year and a half. Mabel retired from the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation after 21 years to help take care of her grandchildren. She was a very loving wife, mom, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mabel was a lifetime member of Blue Grass United Methodist church. Her Christian faith was a very important part of her life. She was active in the Women’s Organizations, prepared many funeral dinners, loved to quilt on the church quilts, also enjoyed the prayer shawl ministry, and many other church activities. Mabel was a life time member of the SIAM club and enjoyed quilting during the show. Mabel loved her family very much. She was very blessed with many church friends. She enjoyed going to Montgomery, IN and visiting with her special Amish friends that were a very big part of her life. In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her husband of 59+ years (James Earl Kiefer), her brother (Carl Richard Koenig), and her sister (Valada Heseman). She is survived by her daughter Sharon Tepool (Gerry), her son Bobby Kiefer (Gina), her grandchildren Shelly Hiam (Luke), Robby Kiefer, Ryan Tepool, and Kayla Kiefer, her great grandchildren Austin Hiam, Shanoa McCrarey, Landon Weinzapfel, Cole Kiefer, Hudson Kiefer, nieces and nephews. Due to the pandemic, funeral services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Grass Cemetery.
