Obituary of Clifton Ellis Harmon
Clifton “Mickey” Ellis Harmon, 78, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020. He was born on August 14, 1942 to the late Mary (Livers) and Milby Harmon in Owensboro, KY. Cliff was a dedicated and beloved husband, father, and papaw. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Harmon, his children: Dawn Costner, David Ponsler, April Harmon, and Brad Harmon. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Joe Harmon, of Kentucky. He loved spending time with his family, traveling, fishing, and working on projects around the house. He was also a long-time member of the American Legion, recently of Beech Grove American Legion Post 276 in Beech Grove, Indiana. Cliff graduated from Davies County High School in 1960. He then joined the United States Navy in February of 1961. While in the Navy, he served as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class E5 onboard the Destroyer USS Boyd. He was honorably discharged in January of 1965. After leaving the Navy, Cliff worked briefly for the United States Postal Service, then began working for Indiana Bell as a Lineman. He retired from Indiana Bell in August of 1994. After retirement, Cliff and Marsha moved to Polk County Florida, where he established another work family within the Polk City Commission and Staff. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Cliff’s name. Services will be scheduled at a later date.
