Richard Kay Horsley

Richard Kay Horsley, who was born on January 16, 1939, died November 9, 2020, after a long illness. He was born to Virginia (Boyd) and Carl Horsley, Sr., the third of eight children. He married Geraldine (Geri Davis) on May 14, 1958, and they enjoyed 58 years of marriage before her passing in 2016. Together they raised four children and have eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren and counting.
Richard was an accomplished woodworker, creating many unique pieces for his home and family. He loved camping, fishing, and gardening, and especially country music. He was Hank Williams, Sr.'s biggest fan.
He was a loving father and grandfather, and he loved spending time with his close and extended family. He will be sorely missed.
Richard is survived by his children, Deborah (Dennis) Shell, Stephanie (Brian) Chastain, Mark (Amy) Horsley, and Wendy (Randy McKean) Horsley; grandchildren, Bryan Shell, Amanda Shell, James Smith, Levi Horsley, Austin Horsley, Taylor Horsley, Brianna Welling and Grayce Pruitt; his great-grandchildren, Shaylee Smith, Holden Shell, Keegan Welling, Kamryn Welling and Kenzie Welling; his brother, James Horsley, Sr.; two sisters, Karen Allen and Barbara Marquis; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Katie Wymer and Jack Tuin.
Richard was preceded by his parents; Virginia and Carl Horsley, Sr.; his wife Geri Horsley; a brother, Carl Horsley, Jr.; and three sisters, Marilyn Reedy, Sue Ellen Bowman, and Patricia Williams.
