Betty Jo Konopnicki

Betty Jo Konopnicki, 90, of Springfield, Virginia, passed away on November 12, 2020 in Fairfax, Virginia. Betty was born in Seebert, West Virginia to the late Nelson and Nina Bruffey on February 3, 1930. She married Emil L. Konopnicki on February 28, 1953 at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Aberdeen, Maryland. She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed supporting her husband’s military career in such places as West Germany, Hawaii and South Korea. Betty enjoyed sewing, bowling and going to the beach. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Emil and siblings Nelson Bruffey Jr., Eudora Blevins, Marvel (Lydie) Markline, Mary Walters, Ruth Swindell, and Gene Bruffey. Betty is survived by her sister Martha (Peg) Carcirieri of Harve de Grace, Maryland; daughter Paula Konopnicki of Springfield, Virginia; and son David Konopnicki and wife Brenda of Plano, Texas. Grandchildren Megan Condotta and husband Steven of McKinney, Texas; Nicholas Murray and wife Sheena of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania; Kyle Konopnicki and wife Laura of Grapevine, Texas; and Karla Murray-Keefe and husband Jason of Woodstock, Virginia. Great-Grandchildren Drew and Alaina Condotta; Samuel and Sage Konopnicki; and Bryan, Emily and Nicole Murray-Keefe. Funeral services will be held at Arlington Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by Demaine Funeral Home.
