Pastor Everett Freels

Pastor Everett Freels, 85, of Evansville passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020. He was born on top of Windrock Mountain in Tennessee on October 8, 1935 to the late Glenn and Nellie (Cook) Freels.
In August of 1947, Everett and his family moved to Frankfort, IN where they were saved in the fall of 1947 at Michigantown Pilgrim Holiness Church. He graduated from Frankfort Pilgrim High School in 1954 and from Indiana State University in 1961. Everett was ordained in 1970 and served the Indiana South Wesleyan District in many capacities until 2016. He pastored Bloomington Northside Wesleyan from 1970-1975, Columbus Flintwood Wesleyan from 1975-1988, Evansville Trinity Wesleyan from 1989-2005, Chandler Cumberland Presbyterian from 2006-2009 and Petersburg Wesleyan from 2014-2017. Everett founded Churches Embracing Offenders (CEO) in 2000 and authored The Created Becomes the Creator in 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ellard Freels and brothers-in-law, Jerry Prouse and Ray Ferren.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha Jean (Hardman) Freels; daughters, Fran Schnell, Glenna Freels and Pam Wooten (Mark); son, Jon Freels; grandchildren, Mara Cravens (Andrew), Whitney Wooten, Seth Wooten and Amy Wooten; sisters, Mary Austin (Charlie), Eleanora Massie (Dennis) and Polly Prouse, and brother Larry Freels (Barbara).
A public visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20 at Alexander East Chapel. Private funeral services will be held. Pastor Freels’ service will be livestreamed at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November, 21 at www.facebook.com/FuneralStreamUSA.
