Obituary of Nelly Jeanne Davis
Nelly Jeanne Davis was born at Henrico Drs. Hospital by Dr. Alice Hirata, who was in residency, on April 16, 1987 to Clark Johnston Davis and Alexandra Michelle Pappas... Clark Davis and Sandy Davis. It was flooding in Richmond on that day and the James River was remarkably high. Nelly Jeanne is named after her maternal great grandfather and maternal great grandmother. In 1989 Nelly had a sister, Zella Zickrick Davis, named after her paternal great grandfather and her paternal great grandmother. And then in 1993, they had a brother, Walter Pappas Davis named after Sandy's dad. Nelly grew up in Oregon Hill before VCU filled the residences. There were OH lifers there like the Carter family who owned Carter's Store where the children would buy many little toys with their close friends... Affia, Maya, Shannon, Cheryl, Caroline, Meridith, Flynn, Carla and Rachel. Nelly went to St. Benedict Elementary School where Sandy was the room mother for her 2nd and 3rd grade classes. Nelly loved Oregon Hill and her friends. Nelly played school and nurse and babysitting with them all of the time. Nelly was baptized and received her First Holy Communion at St.Benedict's Church and went to bible school during mass with her mom helping during the gospel. Zella did too and then Zero. When Nelly was in 6th grade she was a cheerleader for Benedictine H.S. Of St. Benedict's. Nelly and her dad were so close. They always talked privately ever since Nelly was two years old. Clark would just speak to her like she was an adult. It was very touching. He did this talking throughout her whole life. Nelly and her mom stayed very close also. Nelly tattooed Sandy on her left arm and Nelly on her right. Nelly would do anything for her mom. She was that way always. Zella and Zero's bond could not be broken by anything. They loved each other with an undying love. They defended one another. They gave to one another. They played with one another. Everything for one another. In very private moments they would put their arms around each other with their mom and pray. When Nelly was a teenager she spent a lot of time at Pine Street Baptist Church with her brother and sister. Pine Street Church had a great meaning in her life with all of the love they gave. Unfortunately the family split up and moved out of OH. They grew up and moved with Sandy. Nelly went to a nursing school and couldn't stay because of the hardship of having to work to pay her bills. Nelly had LeeAnn as a best friend in her teenage years who lived in New Kent. They spent the night all of the time and went out and had fun. They shared girlfriend secrets. And later Nelly became LeeAnn's 3 daughter's Godmother. LeeAnn kept in touch with Sandy until the day Nelly passed away. She was also Holly's best friend at 14 and when I couldn't find Nelly she was at Holly's. Nelly was a Godmother to all 5 of Holly's children. She loved Natalie, Kara, Cara, Carrie and Megan.. they were soul mates. Abin took Nelly to the ER the night before her incident. He was very faithful to her. As was Javier her boyfriend who stayed dedicated long after her coma. Nelly had a second mother, Gwen Keaton. Gwen kept Nelly safe in school and made sure that she had a beautiful graduation. Gwen loved Nelly so much and Nelly loved her. Nelly can not be described. She was strong as can be. She was gentle and loved children more than anything. She wanted to have children so bad and was sure that she would have some one day. Nelly was full of life. She laughed and went about her business full speed ahead. She was full of energy and joy. She said what was on her mind always. This made her a treasure of honesty. She was always in God's hands. In June of 2014, just after Mother's Day, Nelly had an incident that left her in an ambulance with a cardiac arrest leading to a coma. After 3 months in Henrico Doctor's Hospital she arrived at Envoy at The Meadows. At 26, she was their youngest resident and so blessed to be there. They have given her total love and care for the whole time she was there that we can only pray to God for them to be thanked ten fold. Envoy gave her everything that they could possibly give her. They loved her beyond a patient or resident. She was home. For the past six years she was treated like gold. I will always love and adore them. No one can ever explain the joy it is for us to have Nelly go to heaven today, November 16, 2020. My heart is filled with thankfulness. God bless Shawn Hamilton for thinking of a Burial Fund for Nelly while she was Nelly's payee. Thank you to Henrico Mental Health for everyone's support like Zach's and the love of Kevin. Deep loving special thankfulness for the constant prayers from Aunt Mari, Uncle Sparky, Uncle Mike, Aunt Victoria and Aunt Jackie in the name of God and for Grandma Shirley's love and for the thoughtfulness of Cousin Barbara throughout Nelly's life. And the highest glory to Jane and John Robison and Charles Pool. To Clark, Gail Leviner and Susan Townsend, Shawn Hamilton and Kevin Kelly for their loving selfless faithful assistance to Nelly while at Envoy at The Meadows. And to Jane, Jackie, Jennifer, Kevin and my two treasured children for being with me every day.. I love you.
