Norman C Schwartz

Lieutenant Colonel Norman Charles Schwartz, Jr., 82 of Earlysville passed away on January 10, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer in his home surrounded by his loving family. Norman, “Nick” was born on December 6, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Norman Charles Schwartz and Nell Martin Schwartz. Norman attended Texas A&M, before he commissioned in the United States Air Force in 1961. Norman served in the Vietnam War, and received the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm in recognition of deeds of valor and heroic conduct, amongst other honors. Retiring with honors in 1982, Norman then worked in Government Contracting in Northern Virginia for several years before moving to Greene County Virginia in 1987 where he and his wife Eleanor started a Bed & Breakfast at Edgewood Farm. Norman and his son-in-law Robert Cary also started and ran Edgewood Farm and Nursery. In 2001 Norman and Eleanor relocated to Earlysville, VA where they lived happily and were able to travel extensively. Norman had a great love of travel and shared that love with his family and friends. Norman also loved the family farm in Floresville, TX where he would visit as often as he could. Norman, a loving Husband and Father is survived by his wife, Eleanor Schwartz, his two children: Cynthia Ann Schwartz Cary and her husband Robert A. Cary and Norman Charles Schwartz III. He also leaves behind four Grandchildren: Robert Michael Cary and his wife Samantha Cary, Charles Scott Schwartz, Eleanor Meghan Cary Brown and her husband Thomas Brown, Kathrine Elizabeth Schwartz and two Great Grandchildren: Cora Eleanor Brown, and baby Margaret Cary due in April. Norman also leaves a Brother, Michael Scott Schwartz and his wife Margie Schwartz, their 2 Children: Lauren Lazaro and her husband Brice Lazaro, and Kristin Schwartz, and extended family, Reese Schwartz, Virginia Lazaro, Kenneth Lazaro, and a cousin, John T. Morrissey. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont or the American Cancer Society.
